Analysis

For the past two years, a piece of land owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall in Taman Cantik, Cheras, has been sealed off. However, in early June 2011, a solid waste operator broke through the metal fence and began dumping solid waste, turning the land into an illegal dump site. This activity has caused noise and air pollution, prompting residents to sign a petition demanding the closure of the illegal dump site.

Recently, a lorry accident caused an electric pole to snap and fall into a resident's compound, leading to power supply disruption in Taman Cantik. The residents are concerned about the safety hazards posed by the exposed electrical cables and the environmental impact of the dumping activities.
