Step into the historical charm of Taman Century, one of Johor Bahru's earliest housing developments. Nestled amidst lush landscapes, this estate showcases a diverse array of residences, from opulent hilltop bungalows to quaint single-storey terrace houses dating back to the 1960s.
Originally envisioned and developed by the forward-thinking Yap Siew Cheng, this area was once considered distant from Johor Bahru's bustling town center, nestled amidst serene rubber estates.
Taman Century's prominence is underscored by the presence of the Holiday Plaza shopping center, offering convenience and a range of amenities. Its strategic proximity to the city's central business district elevates its appeal as a sought-after residential area.
Notably, Taman Century is renowned for its pioneering neighborhood watch program initiated by Suzie Yap in 1999. Operated and funded by dedicated residents on a voluntary basis, this program has significantly reduced crime rates, contributing to the area's safety and security.
Additionally, historical anecdotes highlight the efforts of a long-term male resident who set up traffic control along Jalan Wijaya, contributing to the community's well-being.
Jalan Dato Abdullah Tahir serves as a vital link, connecting Tebrau Highway with Jalan Dato Suleiman, the estate's ring road. Beyond Holiday Plaza, Taman Century boasts other notable landmarks, enhancing its appeal and convenience.
Experience the essence of Taman Century, where history meets modern living, offering a serene yet thriving community lifestyle.
