Putatan, nestled in the West Coast region of Sabah, Malaysia, is a dynamic district and suburb strategically positioned between Penampang to the east, Papar to the south, and Kota Kinabalu to the north, with the South China Sea to the west. Serving as a sub-district to Kota Kinabalu, Putatan is an integral part of Greater Kota Kinabalu, known for its diverse communities and thriving atmosphere.
Originally part of the Penampang district, Putatan gained its administrative independence on March 1, 2007, becoming a full-fledged district in Sabah. Despite being the smallest and youngest district in Sabah, Putatan has rapidly developed, offering a blend of modern amenities and natural beauty.
Putatan boasts two prominent higher education institutions and two main secondary schools, namely SMK Tansau and SMK Putatan. Catering to the educational needs of its residents, the district is also home to several primary schools. Excitingly, there are plans for the construction of a new secondary school and primary school, SMK Petagas and SK Petagas, respectively, emphasizing the commitment to education amid the district's rapid growth.
